How Trophies and Achievements Are Effecting Gaming
I don't know how it started. I was just kind of sitting there in a darkened room in the middle of the night, controller in hand, staring at the screen in front of me. I wasn't even playing anything, just browsing through the cross media bar at the list of remaining trophies I needed before that particular game sat on my shelf for the rest of eternity. Then I scrolled over to check my gamer level and see how many percentage points I was away from reaching the next one. That is when I put the
It's a-Me, Mario: Pronouncing Mario's Name
This may seem kind of silly, but one of my biggest pet peeves concerning video games is when people mispronounce Mario's name. For whatever reason, almost everyone I know pronunciates the "Ma" in his name the same way you would say the word "mat" or "marry". Why the hell do people do that?
The way the "Ma" is properly pronounced is technically the same way you would say "mom", or "mop" (since he's Italian and all), but since we speak English here in the United States, the way

If Real Life Were an RPG
Role playing games have offered some of the most enjoyable single-player experiences for over two decades now due a tried and true formula: you embark on an epic journey, take control over a number of unique characters banding together to fight a common enemy, swing swords, cast spells, fight baddies, and ultimately succeed in your efforts in preventing evil from reigning over the world.
And hey, I know it's video games and it's fantasy...shit like that is supposed to

The FPS Situation
My name is Denny Lugz, and I am a Gamer. Since the first time I picked up that NES controller at age six, I knew this was my favorite form of entertainment. If only I had been "on the clock" so to speak, in all my hours of playing I’d be wealthy beyond my wildest dreams. Video games offer a wide variety of experiences to keep you entertained, and it’s been like that since day one for me. I honed my platforming skills with Super Mario Brothers. I felt my first real sense of adventure with

Video Game Items That Would Be Useful in Real Life
At some point in your life, you've probably been playing a game, put down the controller, and went, "damn, I really wish I had one of those." The beauty about gaming is that it presents us with some really fantastical items that would make our lives a hell of a lot easier, and perhaps more fun as well. Here's a few that come to mind.

The Most Frustrating Moments in Gaming
We've all had those moments as gamers. You know, moments where you shout at the TV screen in disbelief as you scream an obscenity-laced, incoherent sentence. Moments where you skulk to your local game store to buy a new controller after your old one was just smashed after being thrown at a Nolan Ryan fastball-level velocity against your wall. Moments where you wonder when you became such a masochist because after failing, you keep hitting retry, only to fail even worse than you

Grand Theft Auto V Officially Announced: What We Want
It's amazing. I was in the midst of writing another installment into my "Where the hell is..." column (much like I did previously with Kingdom Hearts III) about wondering when we'd finally find out some real information on Grand Theft Auto V. I was thinking, "it's been like three and a half years since GTA IV came out and we still don't truly know anything about the next one", when lo and behold, I used my internet machine to research the subject, and BAM, it had just been

Assassin's Creed and American History: Potential Time Periods for Future Games
One of the most compelling features of the Assassin's Creed franchise is its inclusion of real world history and the way it is interweaved with Ubisoft's fictional narrative. Thus far, some of the game's historical settings have included Jerusalem during the Crusades, Venice and Rome in the midst of the Italian Renaissance, and in Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Constantinople amid the Ottoman Empire era.
Before long, one would figure that a future installment in the

Watching the enitre Star Wars Saga tonight...
I know many people might find it strange but I never watched the entire Star Was series up until tonight. I'm on Episode 6 now after watching a New Hope and the Empire Strikes back. Then I'm going to start Episode 1 through 3. For some reason I've never been able to sit down and watch them despite their huge popularity. I think what drew me into actually finally sitting down and watching them is the Family Guy and Robot Chicken variations. Maybe I thought it'd be too complex to grasp?
Oddly enough Knights of the Old Republic, and the Force Unleashed are two of my most favorite video game titles ever in the history of gaming. Shit, even the Clone Wars game was bad ass.

EA Sports Vs. 2K Sports
When it comes to video games, my main attraction has always been sports games. Yeah, sure, when I got my N64 back in the fifth grade I was playing Mario because the 3D aspects of the game were mind blowing at the time. But equally mind blowing was the evolution of sports games during that era. I can still recall playing Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey all night and being in awe of throwing gloves down and fighting the other players. Sure, Mario Kart was fun to play with my friends, but there's just

How to Start a Fantasy Sports Pool for Video Games
In case you've been living under a rock the past several years, fantasy sports is popular. If you don't already play, chances are someone you know does. It's one of the fastest growing trends, and that arrow is still pointing upwards. It is a billion dollar industry due to millions flocking to computers to play it every year.

Video Games That Should Have Been Given a Sequel
Video Games, movies, books...we live in a world where no matter the medium, if there's a chance to make extra cash off of the success of an original piece of work, chances are, it's going to happen. Sometimes it's for the better, more often it's not (we really needed a Speed 2? Really??). But the bottom line is, almost everything gets a chance.
And then when they made Speed 3 even Keanu was sad.

Michael Jackson Composed Sonic the Hedgehog.
Back in the 80's Nintendo established it's company and brand, after Atari dropped the ball, and took the gaming industry by storm with a little Italian plumber named Mario. Trying to grab a hold of the market share, in 1991, Sega launched their version with Sonic the Hedgehog. Making a Pipe Out of X-Box 360 Controller
This tutorial is very similar to the previous NES Controller pipe tutorial we posted earlier.
The back of the XBox 360 controller should have nine screws. Eight screws are visible and the last one is inside the cavity where the battery pack sits. Remove the battery pack and open up the XBox 360 controller.
Go down to your hardware store, or plumbing supply store, and find a fitting called a PEX fitting, specifically you want a 1/2" FIP x 1/2" PEX fitting. Also purchase

Making a Pipe out of an N64 Controller
The first step making an N64 Controller pipe is to unscrew the screws on the bottom side of the controller. There should be 9 screws in total.
The second step is to go to your local plumbing supply. You might want to bring the top part of the controller with you to the store as you'll need to double check the size of the fitting you'll need to use as a bowl.
What you're going to look for in the plumbing supply store is called a PEX fitting. The PEX fitting will be 1/2"
